Dr. John B. Korman, MD, FAAD

Dr. Korman was born in West Columbia, South Carolina, and moved to the Upstate in his teens.  After graduating valedictorian of his class at Riverside High School, Dr. Korman attended Duke University on the academic merit-based Angier B. Duke scholarship.  While at Duke, he majored in biology with minors in chemistry and political science, and was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. 

He attended the Medical University of South Carolina College of Medicine as a recipient of the merit-based James B. Edwards Scholarship.  Dr. Korman was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha honor society as a junior medical student, and served as this organization’s president during his senior year, graduating in the top of his class.  He completed his internship in Medicine at Boston’s renowned Massachusetts General Hospital.  Dr. Korman studied dermatology at Harvard Medical School’s combined training program, which took place in Boston’s premier medical facilities, including Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Beth-Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and Boston Children’s Hospital.  He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and certified by the American Board of Dermatology.  His scholarly work has been published in the top journals of his field. 

After completing residency, Dr. Korman started a dermatology clinic for Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System, where he served for two years before transitioning to private practice.  He resides in Greer with his lovely wife, four sons, and daughter.  


Vlad Abaturov, MSN, RN, FNP-C

Born in present-day Petropavlovsk, Kazakhstan, Vlad attended North Kazakhstan University, where he received his bachelor’s degree in education for English as a second language. 

Vlad moved to the United States at the age of 23 and began his work in New York with individuals with developmental disabilities. During his time in New York, he went back to school and earned his nursing degree from Nassau Community College on Long Island. He later obtained his nurse practitioner degree from Long Island University. 

Following his graduation as a nurse practitioner, Vlad moved to Washington state where he received dermatology-specific training as part of a large group practice. He spent the next 6 years honing his dermatology acumen in rural Washington. Vlad and his family recently relocated to the Greenville area and are excited to be part of the Upstate Dermatology team. 

In his free time, Vlad enjoys spending time outdoors, hiking and biking, traveling, exploring new places, and visiting old favorites with his wife and son.


Tanner Hodgin, PA-C

Tanner was born and raised in Greensboro, North Carolina. He attended NC State University, where he majored with honors in Human biology and minored in Sports Science. After graduation, Tanner gained valuable experience working in a dermatology clinic in Raleigh, North Carolina. Following this experience, he attended PA School at Campbell University, in Lillington, North Carolina. After graduation, Tanner moved to the Lowcountry of South Carolina and worked in a dermatology practice with offices in the greater Charleston area. After recently welcoming their first child, Tanner and his wife decided to move closer to family and relocate to the Upstate of South Carolina. Tanner enjoys treating acne and performing skin exams to both treat and prevent skin cancers.

During his free time, Tanner enjoys spending time with his family, the outdoors, and sports.
